The smell steamed through the air.
She slipped a hand through her messy hair,
And didn’t even give a second glance to the toffee.
It was coffee – or nothing.
Her hand slipped around the handle
And she let a smile slip across her face. Yawning,
She stumbled back to her sons cradle.
How could he be up so early?
When she was just barely awake?
Running her free hand over his curly
Hair, she took a sip of coffee. It washed away the ache
And got her through the morning.
